Introduction to Sermon Preparation & Worship
This course is designed to give a full and practical introduction to the craft of Christian preaching. This will involve an examination of: 1) what is preaching, 2) the purpose of preaching, and 3) the principles of sermon construction. In-class opportunities for students to preach and receive constructive feedback on their preaching will be provided. Students will also explore some of the fundamental dynamics of corporate worship.

Course Description
Introduction to Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) brings theological students of all faiths into supervised encounters with people in crisis. This course is designed to help students maximize their learning by providing opportunities to take time to reflect upon their experiences, receive feedback, sort through meanings, increase self-awareness and evaluate the effectiveness of ministry. As students write their story, record and analyze their pastoral visits and their sharing with their peer group and instructor, there will be opportunities for students to discern their own learnings from their practice of ministry and explore how the theological, behavioral and social sciences inform their ministry.

Old Testament Survey is an introduction to the literature, authorship, history, themes and content of the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament.
